f you’ve been dreaming of a wedding day that feels like an adventure—one where the wind tangles in your hair and your feet sink into the sand while you say your vows—Ruby Beach might just be calling your name.
There’s something incredibly grounding about starting your forever in a place as raw and beautiful as the Washington coast. And Ruby Beach, tucked inside Olympic National Park, is one of those places that just gets you. It’s moody and magical, dramatic and peaceful all at once—and it’s a dream backdrop for couples who want something a little different, a little deeper, and a whole lot more intentional.
Let’s talk about why Ruby Beach is such a gem (pun fully intended).
You’ve got towering sea stacks rising out of the ocean, driftwood scattered like nature’s own decor, and tide pools that shimmer in the sunlight. At sunset, the sky turns golden and the ocean catches every hue—like it knows something special is happening. There’s a wildness here, but it’s also deeply intimate. You’re not performing. You’re just…being. Together.
It’s also surprisingly accessible! A short walk from the parking lot leads you right to the beach. It’s remote enough to feel secluded, but close enough to make planning a breeze. Olympic National Park is full of hidden gems, but Ruby Beach is one of those places that makes you stop in your tracks. Every time.
Planning an elopement on the Washington coast is more straightforward than you might think—but there are a few things you’ll want to have in your back pocket.
You’ll need a Washington State marriage license, which has a 3-day waiting period and is good for 60 days. You can get it from any county clerk’s office in the state (many couples opt for Clallam or Jefferson County if they’re already nearby).
You’ll also need an officiant and two witnesses. I’ve got you covered on all fronts—whether it’s helping you find the right person to officiate or signing as a witness myself. We even help you with all paperwork in our All-Inclusive packages!
Because Ruby Beach is inside Olympic National Park, you’ll need a special use permit for your ceremony. It’s a simple process, but you want to give it time (I recommend applying at least 4-6 weeks in advance). I help all my couples navigate this part so you’re not stuck in paperwork land.
Honestly? There’s no wrong time. But each season brings a different kind of magic.
Spring gives you misty mornings and lush greens.
Summer means more sunlight and warmer temps, with fewer rain chances.
Fall has those dreamy moody vibes and fewer crowds.
Winter? Totally underrated. Think fog rolling in off the ocean while you wrap up in each other.
Just know that weather on the coast can be unpredictable. That’s part of the adventure, though—and I’ll help you prep for all the elements so you stay comfortable and grounded through it all.
A few of my favorite ways to make your Ruby Beach elopement unforgettable:
Time it right: Golden hour (about an hour before sunset) gives you that glowy, cinematic light that makes everything feel a little extra magical.
Dress for the elements: Layers are your friend. Flowy dresses look stunning in the breeze, and boots are totally welcome.
Vendors who get you: I’ve worked with the best officiants, florists, and local Airbnb hosts in the area. If you want to bring a small team of people who care just as much as I do? I got you.
Make it personal: Handwritten vows, a cozy beach picnic, champagne straight from the bottle—this is your day. Make it feel like you.
Ruby Beach is more than just a pretty place—it’s the kind of spot that feels sacred. It invites you to slow down, to breathe, to look at each other and remember what this is all about.
If you’re ready to ditch the rulebook and have a day that feels like you, I’d be honored to be your guide, your photographer, and your biggest cheerleader. Let’s create something wildly beautiful together.
